Charity Reynolds Appell, Executive Director
Charity works in partnership with Ratu, providing international training, connections, and resources. With a background in anthropology and art, Charity is involved in oral literature preservation around the world. Charity sits on the board of the Firebird Foundation, USA, is an advisor to the Sabah Oral Literature Project, Malaysia, and helped found the Eastern Himalayan EthnoLinguist Research Council.
Hawxhurst D. A. McNabb, Assistant Executive Director
Hawxhurst (Hawk) first traveled to Bhutan in 2010. He has assisted his mother in her work in Bhutan, while conducting his own research into the traditional art practices of Bhutan. Hawk, a practicing artist and educator, sits on the Advisory Board of the Firebird Foundation and the BOLP Advisory Board.

Ratu is the backbone of the Bhutan Oral Literature Project (BOLP). Ratu has received trainings in linguistics and videography while in Australia and in ethnography from the Firebird Foundation in the US. An expert archer, he worked as a tour guide for many years and now owns Jigsel E. Pumpkin Tools. Ratu, our chief administrator, trains and guides all the fiel staff making sure they maintain project standards.

Eastern Monpa (Dakpa)
Tashi is a graduate of the Royal Thimphu College where he studied Political Science and Sociology. Tashi approached BOLP and asked to join our team because he was interested in doing research in his own community. He is committed to expanding his interest in anthropology and completing a full ethnography of his region. He will soon launch an online Journal of Community Ethnography.
